The Sweet Story of My Pastry Shop
It all started three years ago, in the middle of the pandemic. I worked in a restaurant that, due to lack of tourists and workload, had to lay off six employees, including me. Although I was entitled to two years of unemployment, by the third month I was already bored of being at home and decided to start my own path. I no longer wanted to work for others.
That’s when the idea of making tub cakes came to me. I had seen them a lot on Instagram, since in Brazil they are very common as a dessert and snack. Although I had never tried them, I embarked on the adventure. At first, I put some glasses in my bag and went out to offer them on the street. To my surprise, people loved them and started asking me for more. They even asked me if I made them for weddings and birthdays.
This led me to study pastry and feel the need to be in the kitchen every day. At first, I didn’t have many customers, but every day I woke up wanting to invent new recipes and flavors. That’s how it all started.
One day, when I told my family in Brazil and my mother about my new project, they revealed to me that my father had been a great wedding cake maker. I think that’s where my passion for pastry comes from. And that’s right: I love what I do.
